Fried Tofu

Description

Do you love or hate tofu?
Whether you like tofu or not, you’ll love this simple and delicious recipe. This fried tofu is proof that you can truly indulge in tofu!!

Ingredients

8 oz. firm tofu, diced (250 g)
1/2 teaspoon salt (2.5 mL)
1 teaspoon baking soda (5 mL)
1/2 teaspoon onion powder (2.5 mL)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour (65 g)
1 teaspoon white vinegar (5 mL)
1/2 cup soy or any plant milk (125 mL)
Peanut or canola oil for frying
Spicy mayonnaise
3 tablespoons vegan mayonnaise (45 mL)
1 teaspoon Sriracha sauce (5 mL)
1 teaspoon maple syrup (5 mL)

Directions

Preheat fryer oil to 160°C (325°F).

In a bowl, combine salt, baking soda, onion powder, flour, vinegar, and soy milk.

Season tofu with salt. Add tofu to batter and mix well to coat.

Place tofu pieces in hot oil and fry for 2 to 3 minutes, until golden brown, making sure to turn tofu when half cooked.

Spicy mayonnaise: Mix all mayonnaise ingredients until smooth and serve with deep-fried tofu.
